Diagnosing Acute Coronary Syndrome and Determining Patient Risk
نویسنده
چکیده
Acute coronary syndrome is a form of coronary artery disease, which has a broad range of clinical presentations. Generally, patients with acute coronary syndrome are categorized as having ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, non–ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, or unstable angina. The findings on the 12-lead electrocardiogram and other information from a thorough history and clinical examination allow patients to be stratified according to their risk for further myocardial damage. Risk stratification will determine an individual patient’s need for aggressive cardiac treatment, observation, or referral. The clinical characteristics that can be used to determine a patient’s risk of a subsequent cardiac event or death are reviewed along with the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association guidelines for immediate management after risk stratification. متن کاملEmerging families of biomarkers for coronary artery disease: inflammatory mediators
INTRODUCTION Inflammation has been implicated in the development of atherosclerosis in patients with acute coronary syndrome. C-reactive protein is an established nonspecific prognostic inflammatory biomarker for patients with acute coronary syndrome in the medical literature. This has led to a concerted effort to identify circulating inflammatory biomarkers to facilitate predicting the risk fo...
متن کاملHigh and low dose atorvastatin effects on high sensivity C-reactive protein in patient with acute coronary syndrome
Introduction: The effect of statins in reducing the risk of acute cardiovascular events is not only due to their effect on serum cholesterol level but also from their anti-inflammatory effects, particularly those resulting from reducing of C - reactive protein (CRP), is important. Atorvastatin dose and duration of treatment display different effects. This study compared the effects of high and ...
